The Story Of How Our Veterans Event Came To Be

A few months back Dr. Weinberg attended a town hall meeting were Sen. Jeff Merkley spoke.  She along with other attendees conveyed their concerns for the fate of our country in this volatile time. Sen. Merkley’s response was to emphasise the importance of helping out in your community to help make things better for others.  He said “the best thing we can do as citizens is to extend a hand to help others”.  And that is how the idea of a veterans event came to mind.

It was at that town hall meeting were Dr. Weinberg met Crystal Purdy, a representative from the Operation Enduring Warrior organization, a group founded by veterans and whose mission is to honor, empower and motivate wounded veterans.

With the inspiration Dr. Weinberg received from Sen. Merkley, she decided right then and there that she would do something for this organization.  Dr. Weinberg volunteered her entire dental office staff to help veterans who are suffering from dental problems.

Those that know Dr. Weinberg know that she has long since been an advocate of giving back to her community and this tribute  to the vets is a part of her on-going efforts. Dentists helping vets

Our entire office staff joined together to provide the necessary dental procedures needed for the vets.  Also on hand was Jaime Phifer our representative from Henry Schein, our supplier of dental equipment and products. She presented each vet with a dental goodie bag.

When all was said and done, we served 16 veterans with the oral care needed and booked some follow-up appointments.  It was an exciting day and a chance to say thank you to them for their service.

We are very excited about the results of this veterans event and we believe that it would be a good idea to make this an annual event. Any time you can give back to those that have given so much for our freedoms, it is the right thing to do.
